Review: The DaVinci Code

After having read the book, I was very excited to see this movie. I must say they were fairly faithful to the book if you disreguard some of the ending and needed time cuts. However, if you have not read the book it is probably very hard to follow due to the large amounts of exposition and fast pace. The tone/mood at the beginning of the movie felt slightly akward to me but as the movie progressed it became less so. I enjoyed the characters Silas and Teabing portrayed by Paul Bettany and Ian McKellen, respectively. These characters were a stark contrast to the rather dull Sophie Neveu and Robert Langdon. I was also very intrigued by how they integrated different time periods and occurances in the same scene through an unusual fading in and out process. Overall, I enjoyed the film but felt the writers could have made some of the expostition more concise. 4 out of 5 stars.
